tcb | cat worker pants olive
the tcb cat worker pants are a new style in tcb’s trouser lineup, based on a vintage pair of frisco pants with suspender buttons from the 1930s.“frisco” is an old name for san francisco – and the name itself already evokes a port city, working people, and the rough atmosphere of the american west coast. while researching the history of frisco pants, hajime came across the term “dock worker.” for a moment, however, he misread it as “dog worker” – and from there, the idea for the cat worker pants was more or less inevitable.
the relaxed straight-fit pants are made in kojima from a custom left-hand twill woven from american cotton. the fabric is sturdy yet has a pleasantly soft hand. with wear, it develops a distinctive patina and individual fades, making the aging process an integral part of the pants’ character and story.
alongside the cinch back and suspender buttons, another distinctive detail of the original frisco pants immediately catches the eye: the “frogmouth pocket.” with its unusually wide and rounded opening, this pocket was designed to allow workers to quickly reach for and remove tools and other small items. what may look like a striking design feature today was originally born entirely out of the practical demands of everyday work.
tcb’s own interpretation of the frisco pants is surprisingly versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways – casual and sporty, rugged with boots, or even dressed up. a pair of workwear pants with history, character, and a little wink of humor.
