the ‘amami dorozome’ type 2 denim jacket is one of the highlights from studio d'artisan's 45th anniversary collection. the jacket is made in japan from an 18oz double indigo selvedge denim before each piece is hand-dyed on the japanese island of amami oshima using a natural "dorozome" mud dye method. the result is an almost black finish that could not be achieved with synthetic dyeing techniques. over time, the dorozome coating wears off, revealing the indigo tones underneath. an absolute must for lovers of a unique patina.
