studio d'artisan
founded in 1979 studio d'artisan is one of the oldest and most renowned denim brands in japan. together with denime, evisu, fullcount and warehouse, studio d'artisan forms the so-called "osaka 5" - the first 5 manufacturers from osaka who started to reproduce the classic american jeans in japan on original old shuttle looms. studio d'artisan is thus one of the founding fathers of japanese "american casual". the high-quality jeans with the two pigs on the leather patch - a sweet homage to levis and his two horses - are produced in the denim mecca okayama, always with great attention to detail and wirh the company credo "reconstruction of great old things". by the way, thomas' first japanese shrink-to-fit jeans was a studio d'artisan.
