this black x persimmon special edition by pure blue japan once again underlines the brand’s reputation as experts in exceptional slub denim fabrics. woven on vintage looms, the fabric combines a sulphur-dyed black warp with a kakishibu*-dyed amber-brown weft. the result is a wonderfully irregular denim that evolves beautifully with wear and wash, highlighting the depth of both dyes and the dramatic texture of the ultra-slubby yarns. the jeans in pbj's 003 silhouette, have a straight, relaxed but not too wide leg with a very slight taper from the knee down.

*kakishibu is a traditional japanese dye made from fermented persimmon fruit (“kaki”).
