viberg | service boot 2030 bct - marrone sego horsebutt
the service boot is the foundation of viberg’s collection and was originally created by ed viberg, in the 1930s, as a work boot for farmers. reintroduced in 2008, the iconic stitchdown service boot features a double row of stitching that attaches the upper to the sole. because the upper is turned outward before being attached to the sole, stitchdown construction causes water and mud to be wicked away from the boot, keeping your feet warm and dry in any conditions.
this version is made from a marrone sego horsebutt, a collaborative tannage developed by brett viberg and maryam tannery in italy. the result is a glossy red-brown leather that's softer and better suited for stitchdown products. the leather features a higher concentration of oils and waxes giving it a distinctive shiny appearance. overtime, the will wear off revealing the more natural matted finish.
these boots - like all viberg boots - are the end result of more than 200 hand-crafting steps and they underwent strict quality inspections at viberg's victoria workshop. any slight variations in color and texture should therefore be considered a part of the boot’s unique character.
