the sg1003 is part of strike gold’s “origin series,” for which various original deadstock denims from the 1940s and 1950s were meticulously analyzed - with the goal of bringing their slightly irregular, characterful texture and the unique patina potential of that era into the present. and the result is truly impressive: strike gold’s 14oz nep denim is woven on extremely slow-moving looms; it is durable yet wonderfully soft and ages beautifully and uniquely over time - with the “tate-ochi” effect typical of vintage denim. this creates vertical, line-like fading and patterns in the fabric that resemble falling lines or raindrops. the sg1003 is a classic straight-cut jean with a mid-rise waist and a classic - neither too tight nor too loose - straight leg.
