the real mccoy's | type l-2a real mccoy mfg. co.
the type l-2a jacket was introduced in 1951 as successor to the l-2, the first flight jacket to use nylon as the main fabric instead of leather. further olive was replaced by blue as the color for the l-2a, which was intended to underline the new independence of the u.s. air force from the u.s. army.
for this reproduction the japanese label the real mccoy’s studied the original mil-spec formula of a vintage 1950s jacket to replicate its yarn, density and weave, a full original of the brand. the lining is made with nylon/wool, woven in a specific way to have the nylon on the front, and wool on back.
