the real mccoy's | heavyweight crewneck / coastguard
this heavyweight sweatshirt by the real mccoy’s is based on the coastguard trainings sweatshirts from the 1940s. it is made in wakayama, japan, from heavyweight cotton on old sinker weave machines, which are capable of producing a heavier and denser fabric than loopwheel machines. sinker machines were the natural successor to loopwheel machines due to their increased speed in fabric production. the 14oz fabric has been constructed horizontally opposed to vertically that were typically seen on sweatshirts from the 1940s era, giving the sweatshirt no seams on the shoulders. the sweatshirt has side gussets to combat against adjustment in size width ways after wash which was a common method in construction seen on sweatshirts from the 1960s and 70s. the clean coastguard print makes it to a real eyecatcher.
