the five pocket jean trouser “980” by old joe combines workman and gentleman styles. the jeans feature details from 1940s work jeans, such as a cinch back and crotch rivet, but are minimalist and elegant in old joe style, with creases that are more reminiscent of tailoring than engineering. the jeans feature a classic straight, slightly relaxed leg with a slight taper. this version is made in japan from a 12oz kibata denim, which is slightly lighter and more vibrant in color than the standard old joe original denim. this exceptional denim fabric was woven in ibara, japan's leading denim production region, and has a great, irregular “nep” texture with lots of depth and character.
