john lofgren | heavyweight t-shirt engineer boots
john lofgren bootmaker t-shirts are completely designed in-house. the process starts with sketching the t-shirt body and details on paper. body and sleeve length, shoulder width, shape of neck opening, ribbing, stitching methods and fabric must all be considered before patterns can be made. next, sample shirts are made in multiple sizes. the samples are then washed and dried to check for shrink rate in length and width. from that, patterns are adjusted and new samples are made. this method is slow and laborious, but it ensures their t-shirts are made to their exacting standards and have an excellent fit.
john lofgren bootmaker t-shirts are ethically made in japan and feature vintage inspired logos that are screen printed by hand using water-based inks and finished off with a sewn on "union ticket". should so much work go into making a t-shirt? if it's a jlb t-shirt, the answer is of course yes.
