the black br80596 a-2 jacket by buzz rickson's is part of the "type black" militaria cooperation.with science fiction novelist william gibson. gibson designed a fictional black ma-1 jacket from buzz rickson's for his protagonist in his book "pattern recognition", and the idea for an all-black collection was born.
the jacket is based on the type a-2 rough wear 23380, the third of five orders the rough wear company produced for the us air force. using an elaborate pigment finishing process the original brown horsehide is dyed black. over time, the jacket develops a unique patina when the brown core comes through in the exposed areas.
