these wonderfully soft sweat pants by buzz rickson's are based on old us military physical training pants and are made in japan from a 13oz loopwheel cotton fabric. loopwheel machines are known to weave at a sluggish pace, with only a single meter of fabric produced every hour. when compared to contemporary manufacturing methods, loopwheel machines apply a very low thread tension allowing the production of an exceedingly premium and unique fabric. the resulting material feels like it has been hand woven, with a stretchy element to it, a quality that cannot be replicated by modern production techniques. these pants don’t have ribs at the waist and hems for less tightness. instead, the fit can be freely adjusted with a draw cord.
