buzz rickson's | br29586 / shirt man's cotton sateen olive green shade107 “demilitarized zone”
the og-107 utility shirt / imjin scouts from buzz rickson’s is based on the shirt worn by john lennon, a self-proclaimed anti-war activist, in the 1970s. the shirt was a gift from a u.s. soldier who had served in korea. along with the u.s. army’s 2nd infantry division, he was sent back to korea in 1965—a good ten years after the official armistice—to take part in reconnaissance missions around the demilitarized zone and to be on standby in case the situation were to escalate again. “imjin scouts” was the unofficial title given to the soldiers who undertook the dangerous patrols around the imjin river. those who had successfully completed them wore the badge proudly on their chest—as seen here, with an embroidered patch on the right pocket.
