this beautiful type m-41 jacket with patches is a faithful reproduction of an old original jacket from back in the day. the m-41 field jacket is the mother of all field jackets. the lightweight jacket made of cotton poplin with wool flannel lining is also known as the parsons jacket, after major general james k. parsons, who was responsible for the introduction of the jacket. it was developed as a combat uniform for field use and was virtually the (!) gi jacket during the second world war due to its great popularity and widespread use.
the pilots of an air squadron often individualized their jackets with patches and prints to show their squadron affiliation. the 487th bombardment squad, also known as “the dogface”, was part of the 8th us air force, which fought against the nazis during world war 2.
