the type b-15c flight jacket was introduced in the 1950s by the u.s. air force, replacing the olive drab b-15b. primarily to distinguish the usaf from other military branches, the b-15c comes in an air force blue colorway. the original type b-15c featured a fur collar, but was soon ‘modified’ to replace the existing collar with a wool-knit collar in its place, intended to reduce the flammability of the jacket but was also a response to the changing cockpit conditions that meant a larger helmet was required. the result was the b-15c modified, expertly recreated here by buzz rickson’s japan.
