the br02857 low quarter shoes by buzz rickson's are part of the "type black" militaria cooperation with science fiction novelist william gibson. gibson designed a fictional black ma-1 jacket from buzz rickson's for his protagonist in his book "pattern recognition", and the idea for an all-black collection was born.
the shoes are based on the classic u.s. army service shoes from world war 2 and are made in japan from fine calfskin with an even grain on the original army last. the reinforced heel cap in the typical “dog tail” design protects particularly stressed areas from cracking and ensures long-term stability.
