the real mccoy's | buco j-24 jacket
unlike some of the other sub-brands of the real mccoy's, buco is a real brand from the 1940s. originally the "joseph buegeleisen co." in 1933, they were specialists in motorcycle accessories and saddlebags. in 1947, they launched "buco", a full apparel line with the slogan: "motorcycle jackets, gloves, caps, belts and bags all cut and sewn by life long craftsmen dedicated to the task at hand.”
the j-24 jacket is a reproduction of one of the iconic 1950's buco jackets, from which nearly every leather jacket style is based on. it’s cut from vegetable-tanned, pigment-finished horsehide. the leather is brown-core with a black finish, leading to a brown cast in high-wear areas. the gold talon zippers were revolutionary when first used for the original design and are a detail providing further authenticity to this jacket. the epaulettes, flaps on the front and back, numerous press buttons and attached, asymmetric pockets complete the classic biker look.
the new fit: the pattern is true to the vintage model with a three dimensional sleeve and front-back balance to reproduce a well-balanced silhouette that is not too tight this time round.
