the true start of the american menswear label reyn spooner was 1957 when reyn mccullough visited hawaii and fell in love with this beautiful island. there he met a talented seamstress named ruth spooner and together they opened the first reyn spooner flagship store in honolulu. initially, they didn’t sell aloha shirts as the shirts being produced at the time just didn’t meet reyn and ruth’s standards for style and construction. it wasn’t until after a local surfer showed reyn an inside-out sewing method championed by locals, that the dream took shape. the new shirts became a real bestseller, both in california and on hawaii, and since then they have been  worn by businessmen, celebrities and even us presidents.
