the navvy boot is a new classic in the viberg range and seamlessly blends classic style with functional versatility. this elegant derby style ankle boot is inspired by the boots of the u.s. navy during the second world war, which were designed to withstand the harsh conditions aboard naval vessels. the new 1940 last used in the navvy boot references the iconic usn last from the 1940s. this round toe shape offers a more anatomical fit throughout, providing both comfort and a vintage aesthetic.
the boot is handcrafted in victoria, bc using a traditional welting technique that joins the welt, sole and upper leather together. this technique ensures exceptional durability and longevity without sacrificing flexibility and comfort.
the high-quality french boxcalf leather comes from the renowned tannerie d'annonay, based in annonay, france, which can look back on a centuries-old tanning tradition and has been producing high-quality calfskin since 1838. their vocalau french calf is a full-grain calfskin with a luxurious boxcalf feel and a smooth, consistently beautiful natural grain with a glossy finish, crafted specifically for premium footwear. over time it develops a unique patina that underlines the authentic character of the boot.
these boots - like all viberg boots - are the end result of more than 200 hand-crafting steps and they underwent strict quality inspections at viberg's victoria workshop. any slight variations in color and texture should therefore be considered a part of the boot’s unique character.
