engineer boots were originally developed at the beginning of the 20th century as work boots for railroad workers, but became increasingly popular on the american motorcycle scene in the 1950s. the buco engineer boots by the real mccoy's are based on a vintage model with leather sole and sharp silhouette from those 1950s. the boots are made in japan from rare “buttock” horse leather, which is obtained from the rear part of the leather, the transition area between the lumbar spine and the tail vertebrae. with wear and tear the brown core of th leather comes more and more through in the stressed areas and gives the boot a unique patina.
