lewis leathers | the corsair no. 60 cow hide - veg tan brown
the corsair no. 60 first appeared in 1962 and was an immediate success as both a jacket for motorcycling and casual wear. still today this clean and elegant single riders jacket is suitable for everyday wear yet tough enough to wear on the bike. features include all-leather waistband with adjustable side belts. red quilted body and gold satin sleeve lining. two smart front pockets and a useful inside wallet pocket. rust-proof front and cuff zippers. elegant one-piece back panel. this jacket is made in england from lewis leathers' most expensive hide: this italian hand-crafted vegetable tanned cow leather is produced via a process which tans the hide to its natural ‘biscuit’ or ‘tea’ color, it is then top stained to the desired brown color. this process leaves the original surface of the leather intact, the finished hides are then lightly tumbled at the tannery to gently enhance the natural patina of the leather. this process means that each jacket made from this hide has its own unique character and is truly a one-off piece - directly from beginning. over time the natural brown core reveals creating an amazing two-tone patina.
