buzz rickson's | br15192 william gibson black, extreme - cold weather m-65 (no hood)
the black version of the m-65 parka by buzz rickson's is part of the "type black" militaria cooperation.with science fiction novelist william gibson. gibson designed a fictional black ma-1 jacket from buzz rickson's for his protagonist in his book "pattern recognition", and the idea for an all-black collection was born.
the m-65 parka is the successor to the m-51 parka and an early model of the garment that would go on to be named the "parka, extreme cold weather". confusingly the parka was called m-65, not to be mistaken for the completely different m-65 field jacket. the parka features a fishtail silhouette that is wide and relaxed, cut long for layering over one or several other garments of various thicknesses. the black buzz rickson’s version is made in japan from a cotton-nylon blend that is a 1:1 replica of the fabric of the original o.d. jackets. this material had the advantage, in addition to a low dead weight, of drying faster when wet and used in wet areas.
