samurai | s710sc-ki "samurai cotton project" 18oz ecru selvedge denim - slim straight
grown, harvested, and woven in japan, the s710sc-ki sby samurai is a slim straight jean with medium rise and is made in japan from 18oz undyed ecru "samurai cotton project" selvedge denim fabric sporting a highly-visible slub and nep. the "samurai cotton project" is a heart project of samurai founder toru nogami with the objective to produce completely made in japan garments from seed to stitch. growing your own organic cotton in japan sounds like a simple enough idea, but it’s been extremely difficult in practice. in 2013, after almost 5 years of painstaking experimentation, the first pair of jeans made from samurai’s own cotton was ready and cost no less than 10,000 dollars. today the samurai cotton production is easier - not meaning that it is easy - and not quite as expensive as 2013, but products made from samurai cotton are still something very special.
