although founded in 2011 already, the japanese jeans label boncoura is mostly known only to the absolute denim aficionados. but those who already know the brand and its jeans are invariably thrilled. the designs are influenced by vintage levi’s jeans, but they are not strict reproductions, and include subtle modern detailing.
the "z" is boncoura’s take on an old levi's 501 from the late 1960s. the jean has a comfortably high rise and a relaxed tapered silhouette. the beautiful dark 14.5oz denim has a smooth but quite uneven texture and will amazingly age to a dotted, bright indigo, high contrast look.
