founded by william peter dehen in 1920, dehen knitting company produces classic and traditional u.s. heavyweight apparel. in the 1920's dehen began knitting varsity and collegiate sweaters for student athletes before in the 1930's they started supplying local motorcycle clubs with riding sweaters. in 1951 william dehen designed the first varsity jacket, which quickly achieved cult status and is still today unmistakably associated with the brand. no matter what the family business produces, the focus is always on long-lasting quality, workmanship and local manufacturing in portland. that was true in 1920, and it's still true over 100 years later.
