samurai x stuf|f | 1940s loopwheel crew neck tee - black

our very first own and exclusive loopwheel tee in collaboration with out friends from samurai jeans is made in japan from incredibly soft recycled #19 yarn cotton fabric carefully knitted on vintage loopwheel machines. these old machines can knit about a half roll of fabric in a day, humming along at just 1 meter per hour. in comparison, a modern knitting machine can prouduce about five full rolls a day, operating at roughly 10 times the speed of a loopwheeler. there are only around 400 loopwheel machines remaining in wakayama, japan with half of these in use at any given time.

the tee’s silhouette is similar to samurai’s famous 2 pack tees with slightly shorter sleeves, but we opted for a slightly longer length - to wear either tucked or untucked - and for a clean crew neck to look smart even underneath a suit.

while we expect some minor shrinkage with a wash, loopwheeled fabrics are notorious for stretching back out quickly with wear. however, for a classic not too tight fit we recommend to size up 1 size compared to your regular t-shirt size.
