red wing shoes | beckman 9419 black cherry
the beckman 9419 is the revised new edition of the red wing classic and flagship of the heritage collection. the 6” boot is a tribute to company founder charles beckman, who started the red wing shoe company in 1905. the beckman perfectly combines rw's usual robustness and durability with an elegant - almost suit-appropriate - design.
compared to its predecessor, it is a little less chunky, with a slightly narrower toe area design. the 9419 once again uses a leather-based sole, but red wing has switched from a Roccia tread to their traditional Gro-Cord rubber outsole. This has similar performance characteristics and is a reinterpretation of the fittings used by Red Wing in the 1930s. the 3 rows of speedhooks at the end of the shaft are also new, making the boot much easier to put on and take off. the black cherry excalibur leather used has a deep and rich dark red tone, which will darken slightly over time and develop a unique patina.
