the western jacket no. 988 is lewis leathers' british take on a classic trucker jacket. it’s basically a british biker meets texas cowboy. the jacket first hit the market in the summer of 1966 and quickly gained popularity. in 1968, the magazine “link! – the magazine of the fifty nine club” recommended it as the perfect companion “for about-town wear or summer motorcycling.” the jacket is still handmade in england in the company’s own small workshop - in this case from the brand’s super-soft black sheepskin - and gets more and more beautiful the more and longer you wear it.
