the winter combat jacket, commonly known as "tanker jacket", was originally developed in 1941 as part of the winter combat uniform for armored divisions. but shortly thereafter, the jacket was also worn by usaaf fighter pilots because the jacket was warmer, more flexible and comfortable than the classic a-2 leather jackets.
this tanker jacket version by buzz rickson's is based on the ealier model with patch pockets. it is made in japan from water- and wind-resistant cotton twill and is lined with 26oz melton wool fabric to keep you warm on colder days. a true classic.
