buzz rickson's | m-51 parka - olive drab
the m-1951 parka was the second parka of its kind to be introduced to the us army during the korean war. its oversized silhouette enabled the soldiers to wear all of their combat gear underneath it. the parka became popular in the 1960s, when mods started wearing it as a protective layer over their expensive wool suits. buzz rickson's version is made in japan from soft but durable, tightly woven cotton sateen fabric which boasts a water repellent finish. the lining of this jacket has a set of urea buttons, which are used to attach an optional liner, which takes this versatile piece into the winter months. side entry hand warmer pockets are lined with wool for warmth, and the zipper is a vintage reproduction of the famous ‘crown’ zips which have an enviable reputation for durability. this parka is a must-have for the autumn layering game.
